The Alberta Randonneurs (AR) offer a series of ultramarathon cycling events to be held in the prairie, foothill and mountain regions of Alberta, Canada (we have chapters in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer). The coming 2010 season will be the AR's twenty-third season of randonneuring in Alberta.
Two teams ended up finishing the Fleché this past weekend doing 517km (!) and 385km. Reports and photos will be up very soon.
In order to support new riders we will mentor four 200 km rides this year.
The rides and mentors are: Wildrose 200 with Bill Bakke on April 10; Okotoks 200 with Maurice Smith on April 17; Wayne Galbraith 200 with Peter Hoeltzenbein on May 1 and Elbow Falls 200 with Ken Myhre on May 29.
New riders are encouraged to indicate their plans on the Google Groups forum. See also the full ride schedule.
There are two 1000km rides on our schedule for 2010, both (as with all Alberta Randonneur rides) are fully self-supported. These are good opportunities for riders looking to increase their Brevet-kilometers in preparation for PBP next year.
Anyone may join our mailing-list on Google Groups, even if you are not a member. If you wish to come to formal, scheduled rides you need to join the club (which you can do at a scheduled ride; just alert the ride contact first). If you just want to find out more or come on a training ride, contact us through the Google group mailing list.
